SPRING Singapore's Environment Standards Committee (EVSC) monitors trends in international environmental standards and guidelines in the following categories:
- Greenhouse gas management
Spring is working with the industry to develop standards related to firms' carbon footprint.
Relevant certification: ISO 14064, on the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.
Areas covered include water, waste, energy, raw materials and eco-efficiency, which refers to using resources in a more efficient yet eco-friendly way.
Relevant standard: ISO 14045:2012, which provides principles and guidelines for assessing products on eco-efficiency.
- Business sustainability assessment
This includes standards for assessing the environmental impact of products through their life cycles.
It also covers the economic and environmental aspects of eco-efficiency, management system certification, environmental communications and social responsibility.
Relevant standards: SS ISO 14001, which is the core set of standards used to design and implement an environmental management system, and
SS ISO 14004, which includes examples and options for that implementation.
